Invisalign®

Invisalign®

Custom-made to straighten your teeth, Invisalign® clear aligners are nearly invisible. Each aligner is made of a proprietary, multi-layer SmartTrack material, which gently shifts your teeth into place over time, moving them slightly both horizontally and vertically and even rotating them if necessary. The aligners are engineered so that as you change to the next set of aligners (typically every two weeks), your teeth gradually move into their correct position.

Invisalign® takes a modern-day approach to aligning crowded teeth. Using a series of thin, transparent and custom-made aligners, the treatment stands out against traditional braces because it’s virtually invisible. Daily use of the aligners will steadily shift your teeth into the correct position. Before beginning your treatment at Oakleaf Family Dentistry in Jacksonville, Florida, Dr Falcao will work with you to create a treatment plan that meets your unique needs and alignment goals. Everything You Need to Know About Our Invisalign® Process

Scheduling an Appointment

Scheduling an appointment with Dr Falcao should be the first step you take. As Invisalign®  doesn’t work for every situation, Dr Falcao must first conduct an oral evaluation to determine if you qualify for the treatment.

Creating a Treatment Plan

If Invisalign®  is determined to be a great fit for you, Dr Falcao will begin customizing your treatment plan. This process involves creating comprehensive three-dimensional (3D) digital images of your teeth, or you can choose to utilize traditional dental impressions. If you decide to opt for 3D imaging, the iTero digital scanning system will provide you with virtual results that show the exact movements your teeth need to make as well as a preview of the expected outcome.

Obtaining Your Invisalign® Aligners

As mentioned, the Invisalign®  treatment consists of a set of transparent aligners. They are typically made of a BPA-free, SmartTrack material, which means they don’t contain the toxins many plastic components carry. These aligners can be removed easily, making it extremely convenient to eat, brush and floss your teeth as you normally would.

Although Invisalign® aligners are removable, Dr Falcao will recommend wearing them the majority of the day and night. Additionally, they will be replaced by Dr Falcao weekly or twice per month, depending on your specific case. Such frequent replacements are necessary to achieve the gradual movements necessary for obtaining perfect alignment.

Proper Care During and After Treatment

Dr Falcao will provide you with useful instructions and recommendations on how to safely clean and care for your aligners. After eating, be sure to brush your teeth as well as your aligners before placing them back in the mouth. This process will reduce the risk of bacteria growth. After you have completed your Invisalign® treatment, Dr Falcao  will most likely recommend wearing a retainer to stabilize your teeth in their new position.

Dermal Fillers

A faster and less expensive alternative to a surgical facelift, dermal fillers have a similar effect without the recovery time. The problem area is mapped out, and then a natural or synthetic material is injected into the area. This takes only a few minutes and involves minimal discomfort. The result is a fuller, more youthful face.

Soft tissues that ring the mouth are as important as beautifully restored teeth for an attractive and confident smile. Dermal filler agents, such as Restylane, treat fat and collagen volume loss due to the aging process that causes static lines to develop. As we age, our body’s production of hyaluronic acid, the body’s natural filler, decreases, which causes facial lines to appear. The skin-plumping effect of dermal fillers can be seen almost instantly.

Botox

Botox is composed of botulinum toxin, a form of a purified protein used to treat a number of cosmetic and dental issues. It is injected into the facial muscles and blocks the nerve transmission to those muscles. As a result, the dynamic motion in the skin is relaxed, allowing the wrinkles to smooth and disappear. Common injection sites include the forehead, the area between the eyebrows, the corners of the eyes, and the sides of the chin.

For patients wishing to erase the signs of age and enjoy a more youthful appearance, Botox injections effectively treat facial wrinkles and lines, minimizing and sometimes eliminating them altogether. The procedure is quick, requires no anesthesia and takes anywhere from a few days to a week to take full effect. It is a safe and well-established technique that can be performed by your dentist at Oakleaf Family Dentistry. Dentists are uniquely suited for providing Botox treatment. We are skilled at assessing the balance and overall aesthetics of the face and have had extensive training in the anatomy of the head and neck.
